Well, here I am again, courtesy of Mica for reminding me that people who have a livejournal are actually meant to make posts of their own and not just stalk their friends. I've been a little under the weather lately, but things are looking up in that respect and other than that everything has been wonderful. Quite literally. I love my college, I love the people I've met there and I can't believe how great it is to finally be living away from home. At the moment I'm working on not being so much of a stereotypical college freshman. I've been slacking with my schoolwork a bit (especially Latin, I've been bullshitting that class so bad). Hopefully next semester will be a little better in that it won't include Women Writers Before the 19th C. Dx I'm trying not to get into a permanent mindset of "women are dumb and shouldn't be allowed to write literature," especially since I plan to write at some point in my life and don't plan on any kind of gender reversal. (Although dressing as a guy at the Drag Ball was a good time.) I guess I should mention that I'm in a relationship as of... last Friday, the 20th so I don't forget it. I told myself I wouldn't do this again, but so far i haven't regretted it. Maybe giving the whole boyfriend thing another shot isn't such a bad thing. As for other things, I'm kind of missing my old hobbies and hoping to get back into the piano. I want to learn Comptine d'un Autre Ete from Amelie and I guess that'll be my next short term goal. Have a listen if you get the chance --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBZPa-kLLCEHope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving.

I don't even want to discuss the social aspects of college right now, but I'd like to let you guys know what I'm reading: right now, I'm taking a break from Evelina, which has wholesome values such as : there's no point in a woman over 30, and the French deserve to be robbed and thrown, half-naked, into ditches. But, just a couple hours ago I was reading The Monk, which is, surprise, surprise, about a monk... who rapes people. By far, though, my favorite story has been The Grateful Negro. Oh, man. Don't think I even have to explain that one. |

It's getting to those january 20-something days, and I'm not really as excited as usual. I think my new schedule is creative writing, psych at umass, english still, and precal. Let me know if I have classes with any of you, or if you know anyone taking psychology at umass. It'd be helpful to have an ally there. Other than the fact that honors precalculus is going to make me confused and even more without time, I'm kind of sad to lose my spanish classes. As much as I can't stand the sophomore boys in spanish II, I am going to miss Moira's craziness, and having easy classes. The other day I was looking at what appeared to be an aluminum foil man shoved in between the ceiling and the pipes. I was trying to figure out what it was, but I couldn't quite see it so I asked the kid next to me what he thought it was. "It looks like a little person," he said, and then we were both squinting at it. Then the kid next to him started looking at it, and all of a sudden the whole class was. Some girl shouted "WHAT? It's a bird??" and then just like that everyone was screaming and running around. The teacher ran behind me and put her hand on my shoulder. I was just like "..no one said anything about a bird." It turned out to be a valve wrapped in newspaper and twenty years of dust. =/ I'll miss things like this. I'm also going to miss the people in my spanish I class. I know I'm not going to talk to them once we don't have class together. =/ Anyway, tell me what your classes are if you know yet.

Go to urbandictionary.com and type in your answer to each question in the search box, then write the FIRST definition it gives you. 1.) Your name: My name is Bridgette and I'm French. Why else would I be wearing this ridiculous hat? I have a reservation for eight o'clock, and I'm better than you. Now get me my table or I will taunt you a second time. (since beck used the first entry, which was hilarious btw) 2.) Your age: 17; The right age to start having sex, according to Chef on South Park. 3.) One of your friends: Abby; sexy hott, every boy loves her. girls want to be friends her, boys want to have her. not the most popular girl in the world though. she's just normal. funny, cute, hott, sexy, big hott lips, tallish, urban, nice, mean to bitches, (can pick things up with toes, and can do unusual things with tongue) not you're average girl. 4.) What should you be doingg?: school work; Although this started out as an inside joke on my part, this term is a saying for marijuana. It works on many occasions if you don't want people to find out. (obviously) 5.) Your favourite colour:Purple;Extremely potent marijuana, specifically marijuana buds that have a purple hue to them. Also accompanied by a fragant, usually fruity smell and mad perma-grin. 6.) Your birthplace:A city that really feels like a town full of business people during the day and college kids at night. We're loyal to our teams and will kick your ass or yell at you if you don't love them too. We'll do this either sober or drunken. Most times it's better drunken though. Basically it's really funny to us. 7.) Last person you talked to: Tom; the man responsbile for the monstrosity known as "myspace", owner and operator of said site, and consequently the man blamed every time myspace is down. 8.) Last thing you had to drink:Water; The 4th element required to summon Captain Planet EARTH FIRE WIND WATER HEART 9.) Your nickname: Brigitta; A female, usually extremely exotic and wildly beautiful. Tends to make men drop to their knees and salivate wildly. thank god we have resources like this on the internet

I got up early today and shivered my way out the door and into a long car ride to middletown, connecticut. Was anyone up at the ungodly hour I was? because it was freezing! Anyway, I went to take a tour at Wesleyan today, and it wasn't too bad. I don't see myself there, but I had a funny tourguide and it got me some exercise at the very least. After almost getting shuffled into an interview room, I found my way to the tour where we were split into two groups. I followed JD around the art centers and coincidentally met the president when we walked past his house. He was frighteningly tan and complained that we weren't a lively enough group before mumbling some sarcastic parting note and walking off. We walked on and stopped at the stairs of a very impressive library, built by Henry Bacon (the guy who built the Lincoln Memorial), who was apparently quite fond of huge stone pillars. JD told us that the library was part of a group of three, and could get books from the libraries of Trinity and UConn. He boasted that their library had more than half of these books and then proceeded to tell us an anicdote about how he was an enthusiastic attender of soccer games. One time when the Wesleyan team was losing and he was running out of things to shout, he started calling out "WE HAVE MORE BOOKS THAN YOU!!" and proceeded to get harrassed by a mother of a Trinity student. xD The dorms looked quite livable and more roomy than the other ones I've seen, and the sports department looked impressive too, although you all know I'd probably injure myself just walking into a stadium, or gym, or any other kind of sporting area. We also saw the 96 house, which is one of the oldest buildings in new england and is a very interesting, completely student-run theatre. Anddd, they put on a new show every week for free! On a semi sidenote, I went jeans shopping at macy's yesterday and tried on a pair of skinny leg gray stretch ones for laughs. After meeting the president of Wesleyan, I was pleased to pass a male student wearing the same jeans! Actually, I think I saw more guys wearing tight pants than not, now that I think about it. One of them was even sporting a top hat. Soooo all in all, Wesleyan was nice, but even though it wasn't stuffy, it was heavily ridden with self-impressed emo kids with trust funds. Nonetheless, it was still a good time. Also, I'd like to dedicate this song to HF, because the highlight of my day had more to do with a cute waiter than it had to do with my college-search. And on that note, I recommend O'Rourke's Diner to anyone who finds themself in the middletown area with an empty stomach. I have a warm place in my heart for diners anyway, but this one's all decked out with irish memorabilia and a very impressive breakfast and lunch menu. (note the Gaelic welcome sign)

So apparently the school website works if you access it at the westport library. Interesting. So, I printed out a copy of the prompts when I went to pick up Things Fall Apart and I'm passing it on for Abby and anyone else who cares enough to do it or fears the wrath of harry and doesn't feel like going to the library. For each of the two books read, you must respond to five out of ten writing prompts. Please make sure to include the book title and author at the top of your submission. The five writing prompts should all be submitted together in a journal assignment. Responses must be typed in 12 point Times New Roman black font. blahblahblah submit it to moodle. I still can't get over what they named it. Sounds like something from final fantasy. Anyway: 1. How are the characters developing? Do I dislike certain characters? Are some characters dynamic? (MRS KEHOE WOULD APPROVE) Are some flat? (pfft. static.) Do the characters change over the course of the story? How are the events or other characters influencing or motivating the characters? 2. Are there recurring themes, ideas, images, and symbols? Do I think they are important to the characters and / or plot? 3. What are the conflicts in the book? Why are these conflicts developing? Are these conflicts internal (within the characters) or external (from outside sources)? (woah, thanks for that clarification) 4. Can I relate to any of the characters? Do parts of the book remind me of myself or others? Why? Can I feel what any of the characters are feeling? 5. Who is the narrator of the book? From what point of view is the story told? Does this type of narration help or hurt the book? Would a different narrator or different narration improve the book? 6. Write a letter to one of the characters. Include three specific events of which the character was a part. Comment on the character's response to events or offer advice. Ask questions. 7. Evaluate the writing style of the author. What are the sentences, word choice, descriptions like? Does the style help the story line? Could the style be improved? How? 8. What is the author's tone towards this book? What one word best defines the tone of this book? What scenes, episodes, or examples are good examples of the authors tone? 9. What is the mood created in the reader by this book? What examples best reveal the mood of this book? 10. If you could be one of the characters for one day, who would you be and why? Who would you definitely not be and why. Explain your choices.

So, I'm finally better and can't wait to make up for the sad week I spent doing nothing. (The Galeria awaits!) Being homebound, I decided to dive into those summer reading essays we've all been avoiding, but westportschools.org is unfortunately (or maybe not so much) under construction, as it has been for the past month or so. I heard a rumor that there aren't any prompts this year, but I'm hoping that isn't true because I'm terrible at coming up with things myself. =/ After all, it did say there were prompts on the letter we all got. I actually called the number they gave in case anyone has any questions, but no one picked up. Considering how organized and helpful our school is, I wouldn't be surprised if no one ever picks up. Who knows, maybe Mr. Millet sympathizes with our hate of summer reading and sent another virus through the school computers. I guess school has been invading my subconscious recently, because I had a dream that we were all in a school gym somewhere, maybe durphey. Abby will appreciate this story.. We were watching a bunch of her friends put on an unofficial dress rehearsal afterhours, when no one would know we were there. Abby left for a bit and came back with food for everyone. Just as we had all dove into our food, Gail Silvia came storming out of nowhere with a very serious expression on her face. Apparently Gail Silvia knows whenever a student opens a bag of food in a place it isn't allowed. In other news, one of my socks that had been literally missing a year turned up when I got the laundry today. I swear I searched the washing machine/dryer inside and out. =| Interesting.

Hi everyone. It's been a while, hasn't it? Well, there's no use in catching up now. I went up to needham today and hung out with the gang - kevin, jessica, and eri (hi eri). We ended up seeing WALL-E, which was surprisingly good. I'll tell you though, the previews in G movies are scary stuff. There was something about chihauhuas... I don't know, but there were hundreds of them and streamers and confetti. Too much of a good thing is never good, and chihuahuas weren't really on my good list to begin with. Anyway, it was a good movie - cute and thought provoking. (Anything that can make a cockroach look adorable is impressive in my opinion.) I went for senior pictures before heading off to needham. The woman taking information said they only got 6 people yesterday, so I don't even know if any of you went, but it was an interesting experience. After I got over the whole not wanting to be in the high school during the summer it wasn't so bad. The girl who took my photos was bouncing around in her socks, which I thought was pretty funny. Although, am I the only one who was bothered when she said to lie down on the floor? Why would I put a lounging photo in the yearbook? xD Hope everyone's having a nice summer!

Many people would say that fame is a superficial achievement, a perfect example of why you should be wary of what you wish for. Some may point to news articles displaying mistakes celebrities have made. Others still may say that fame simply cannot bring happiness, that the secret to a rewarding life is in friendship and confidence and family. These people are not famous. These people are jealous. Certainly, a person as smart as you, a person with ample brilliance to grade the official SAT essays, would not fall for such foolishness. Please allow me to let you in on a wonderful secret. I have connections to an immensely affluent woman by the name of Lame Nymsowersby. How does this concern you, you may ask? Inane Polcowski will make you famous. I have enclosed a 20 dollar bill to ensure you of the seriousness of this information. Fame, fortune, and the best chocolate cookies you've ever tasted can all be yours. I just ask one thing: A simple 6. That's all you must do. Please consider my offer. You can reach Fakename Redonksi at 508-422-8781. |

Today I went and cleaned up east beach in celebration of the impending earth day. As far as picking up trash goes, it was a pretty good time. Mica and I had fun examining scary dead fish and the like. (So many teeth!) Then I picked up Abby and we went malling a le centre commercial de providence. I have a funny feeling this was the first successful mall trip since freshman year. I can't wait to show you guys my exciting new hoodie. It's a little different, but I think you'll like it. (coughexactlythesamecough) I also got a couple t's and some striped shoes. They're a little big, but they were cheap, and the salesguy was nice and helpful, so I said eh, what the hell. If anyone's got a shoe-shrinking machine I'd love to borrow it though. The whole mall smelled like those big soft pretzels, so we had to get a couple, which were excellent by the way. And then what goes better with pretzels than a vanilla malt milkshake for two? xD Anyway, it was a nice time, if you know what i mosque. ;)

Hey everyone. I know it's been a little longer than usual.. I don't know what it is about this semester that has to eat my life, but I've been spending way more time than I'd like on homework. I thought I was escaping the whole "junior year will be the hardest year of high school" thing when last semester was as easy as all the others, but I guess I celebrated too soon. Worst of all, my easiest class this semester is the class I'm getting the lowest grade in. Leave it to mr. garth. He could at least pretend he actually has a system for grading - it would make me feel like trying. "so how exactly do you grade for this class, mr. garth?" "basically, if i like you, you get a good grade. if i don't like you, you fail." =| Do you think he can tell that I have a grudge against him? That might be wrecking my chances.. Art has been something different than what I was expecting in that it isn't a social class at all, but I've enjoyed it nonetheless. I like the freedom we have with assignments. I guess mrs. hadley has decided if we get past the preliminaries and come back for more, we can take care of ourselves. Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone, and a very merry birthday to you, Eri. I hope 17 treats you well. So far it's been alright to me - you'll have to tell me what you think of it. =)

Hey everyone. I know it's been a while and I'm sorry to reappear only to bring down the mood, but since my voice box is broken, I've resorted to this as a method of communication. I'm sorry to whoever called at 11 and I'm sorry I won't be around for talking at 11:30. I hate to say it, but unless something amazing happens and I'm not this sick at 6, I think I'm going to have to skip the rockiness. But honestly guys, I demand notes and pictures.
